India’s Independence Day on 15th August 1947 was a landmark moment of happiness for millions. But the dark side of the moment was the Partition of the country into India and Pakistan by Mountbatten Plan. What was the cause of this partition? Who caused the partition of 1947? Our story actually starts earlier than you might think. British started playing the policy of Divide and Rule after the 1857 revolt shook the company rule. Pro-British Syed Ahmed Khan gave the two-nation theory in 1887 saying that the Hindus and Muslims are two different nations. I explain the role of Jinnah and the events till the 1920s in this mini-documentary.
